iGaming Ontario (iGO) is a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) that manages Ontario’s regulated private online gambling market. It is the body that contracts with private casino operators, sets conduct standards, and collects revenue for the province.
When Did iGaming Ontario Launch?
iGaming Ontario launched on 4 April 2022. On that date, the first cohort of private operators went live simultaneously, ending the previous regime under which only OLG.ca was licensed to offer online casino games to Ontario residents. The market opened with 17 operators; by 2026, more than 40 brands are registered.
How Does iGaming Ontario Work?
Under the iGO model, private operators sign a commercial agreement with iGO that gives them the right to offer online casino games, poker, and sports betting to Ontario players. In exchange, operators pay a share of gross gaming revenue to iGO, comply with AGCO Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming, and meet player protection obligations including deposit limits, self-exclusion tools, and responsible gambling disclosures.
Who Regulates iGaming Ontario?
The AGCO regulates the Ontario market. The AGCO sets the rules (Registrar’s Standards) and enforces them. iGO is the commercial entity that contracts with operators. OLG continues to operate OLG.ca as the provincial Crown option alongside the private market.
Which Operators Are in iGaming Ontario?
The full list of iGO-registered operators is published on the iGaming Ontario website. Brands include BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, bet365, BET99, theScore, BetRivers, PointsBet, Fanatics, and Hard Rock Bet. New operators join periodically after passing AGCO registration requirements.
Is iGaming Ontario the Same as OLG?
No. OLG (Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation) is the provincial Crown corporation that runs OLG.ca. iGaming Ontario is a separate AGCO subsidiary that manages the private operator market. OLG.ca and private iGO operators compete for Ontario players. The two frameworks run in parallel.
