What is Casino Hold’em?
Casino Hold’em is a casino table game based on Texas Hold’em poker. You play against the dealer rather than other players, and both you and the dealer build five-card hands from your two hole cards and five community cards.
How a hand plays out
You place an Ante bet and optionally an AA+ side bet. Both you and the dealer receive two hole cards, and three community cards (the flop) are dealt face up. You can either fold and lose your Ante, or Call by placing a bet equal to twice the Ante. The remaining two community cards are then revealed. The dealer needs a pair of 4s or better to qualify. If the dealer doesn’t qualify, the Ante pays 1:1 and the Call bet pushes.
Optimal strategy
The basic strategy for Casino Hold’em is to call with any pair or better on the flop, any 4-card flush draw, any 4-card straight draw with a high card, and any two overcards to the board. The house edge with optimal play is around 2.16%. Folding too frequently is the most common mistake — if you fold every time you miss the flop you’ll be overpaying the house.
