What is a double chance bet?
A double chance bet lets you cover two of the three possible outcomes in a football (soccer) match with a single bet: home win or draw, away win or draw, or home win or away win. Because you’re covering more outcomes, the odds are lower than a straight win bet.
The three double chance options
Home/Draw (1X): your bet wins if the home team wins or the match draws. Away/Draw (X2): wins if the away team wins or the match draws. Home/Away (12): wins if either team wins (the draw is the only losing outcome). Each combination covers roughly two-thirds of all possible results, making these bets easier to win but offering lower returns.
When to use double chance
Double chance bets suit situations where you’re fairly confident an outcome won’t happen but aren’t sure which specific result will. If you strongly believe a strong favorite won’t lose but don’t know if they’ll win or draw, Home/Draw covers both scenarios. The reduced odds mean you need to be right more often (or bet larger) to profit, but the increased probability of winning each bet reduces variance significantly.
